Job Summary
Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled Optical Engineer to join our team. As an Optical Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the design and management of fiber products, ensuring their parametric performance meets specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Document test requirements and improvements for relevant hardware designs, applying knowledge of moderately complex features or products under various customer scenarios.
- Use root cause analysis and data/statistical analyses to identify complex problems or flaws affecting feature or product design changes.
- Contribute to project implementation schedules, delivering hardware engineering aspects of moderately complex features or products.
- Implement and track product plans with minimal guidance, providing recommendations for comprehensive product plans.
- Identify opportunities to affect downstream project execution by resolving issues and implementing design tradeoffs within scope.
- Use data and statistical analyses to make recommendations optimizing existing processes or creating new processes for the team.
- Identify common project risks at the outset, developing plans to address those risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or other STEM disciplines.
- Proven work experience in product engineering within a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in statistical parameters control for manufacturing and product testing.
- Hands-on experience with microscopes, including Scanning Electron Microscope and Optical Microscope.
- Ability to meet Microsoft's security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in defect analysis using microscope techniques, including Energy-dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) and Raman Spectroscopy.
