Job Title: Secondary Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Teacher to join our team at New Barn School, a specialist education provider for vulnerable young people. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.

Job Summary:
  • Teach a range of subjects to students with complex needs, utilizing a therapeutic approach to promote engagement and understanding.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans, assessing student progress and setting achievable goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum programs, incorporating outdoor education and forest school activities to enhance student learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality lessons, adapting to the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness to inform instruction and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date with best practices in special education and therapeutic teaching.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with complex needs, particularly those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
