Job Title: Senior Theatre Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our AfPP accredited Theatres team as a Senior Theatre Practitioner.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary Theatres team, working to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre unit while mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work primarily as a scrub practitioner, occasionally being required to work as an anaesthetic and/or recovery practitioner.
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the team, deputising for the Lead Theatre Practitioner when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Prepare operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required.
  • Ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control are carried out.
  • Assess patient care requirements, implement care, and evaluate outcomes.
Person Specification:
  • Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).
  • Have experience in planning, organising, and running lists within the theatre suite.
  • Experience of supervising staff and scheduling operating lists.
  • Have evidence of continuous professional development and its application.
