About The Role

Morrison Energy Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Structural Design Engineer to join our OHL Design team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating design engineering solutions to support MESTN OHL and Substation construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate design projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of National Grid, SPEN, ENA, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Develop specific design processes, policies, and training manuals.
  • Liaise regularly with other engineers and technicians to maximize productivity.
  • Review, develop, encourage, and train engineering staff.
  • Provide technical advice and support to Babcock personnel and clients.
  • Review resource levels regularly and report deficiencies and possible solutions to the Design Manager.
  • Assist in the development of external design resources relevant to the role and utilize them wherever required.
  • Maintain effective communication and undertake necessary correspondence with internal and external clients.
  • Attend and contribute to regular project briefings, team meetings, and design review meetings with engineers and/or technicians.
  • Continually assess and review contract programs within design and innovation teams.
  • Liaise with clients to provide input and scope for new standards/codes of practice.
  • Work within established Company policies and procedures.
  • Promote company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behavior in accordance with Company ethos.
  • Use talent and ability to encourage achievement and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate safety, integrity, and commitment at all times.
  • Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business.
Requirements:
  • Advanced (expert) user of PLS TOWER and PLS CADD.
  • B.Eng or BSc in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, with honors, or HND.
  • Suitably experienced in the OHL industry.
  • Chartered or close to being chartered.
