Site Manager Job Description

AGM Construction Recruitment is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their team in York. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating both directly employed site staff and external contractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating and Directing Site Staff and Contractors: The Site Manager will be responsible for coordinating and directing both on-site staff and contractors to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Planning and Scheduling: The Site Manager will plan and schedule all site activities, including labour coordination, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Working with Contracts/Project Manager: The Site Manager will work closely with the Contracts/Project Manager to ensure projects align with programme timelines and effective cost control measures.
  • Addressing Issues and Implementing Corrective Actions: The Site Manager will address issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure projects are completed to the highest quality standards.
  • Providing Project Updates and Leading Progress Meetings: The Site Manager will provide regular project updates and lead progress meetings, including subcontractor meetings, to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Ensuring Quality and Safety Standards: The Site Manager will ensure adherence to the company's high-quality and safety standards, in collaboration with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Team.
Essential Requirements:
  • Proven Experience in Site Management: The successful candidate will have proven experience in site management, preferably in housing, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Ability to Plan and Oversee Construction Operations: The Site Manager will have the ability to plan and oversee all construction operations, including the development of detailed construction programmes.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of Construction Processes: The Site Manager will have comprehensive knowledge of construction processes with a strong sense of commercial awareness.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Leadership Skills: The Site Manager will have excellent interpersonal, leadership, and team management skills, with the ability to maintain a professional and approachable demeanor when working with colleagues, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Academic Qualification in a Construction-Related Field: An academic qualification in a construction-related field (HNC, HND, or Degree) is desirable.
  • Current Qualifications and Certifications: Current qualifications and certifications such as SMSTS, First Aid, Black Managers CSCS card, asbestos awareness, working at height, and scaffold inspection are highly preferred.
  • Valid Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is essential.
