Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Technologist to lead our product improvement workstreams and maintain / develop our portfolio. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative products within the constraints of the brief, working cross-functionally and with other McCormick facilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead NPD workstreams for the global customer account, working with cross-functional teams to deliver product improvements.
  • Link design activity to business strategy by delivering innovative products that meet customer requirements.
  • Lead strategic projects supporting key initiatives such as cost optimization, regulatory changes, and processing improvements/simplification.
  • Provide technical support to customers, interacting with 3rd parties to ensure up-to-date ingredients and technologies are employed in new developments.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to develop and maintain the portfolio, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
  • Develop and implement HACCP/HARA procedures, leading R&D audits and ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Travel within EMEA to support customer requirements, interacting with suppliers and specialist bodies to stay up-to-date on industry trends.

Candidate Profile

  • Graduate or equivalent in Food Technology/Food Science or related subject.
  • Relevant bench development experience in salad dressings, condiments, and sauces, with a strong understanding of coatings, seasonings, or sweet syrups.
  • Ability to think laterally and solve complex problems, with proven team work and project management skills.
  • Confident communicator with excellent persuasion and influencing skills, able to articulate ideas and solutions in a changing environment.
  • Sound understanding of the development process and its link to the business, with the ability to demonstrate technical knowledge of a relevant field.
