Network Design Engineer

As a pioneering company at the forefront of innovative design of Building and Energy Management Systems, MRP-Global is embracing new technology to drive innovation and excellence in the industry.

With a comprehensive approach from design to manufacture, installation, commissioning, and maintenance, our company holds a leading edge in the marketplace, providing enterprise building converged networks to host all control systems within a building.

As part of our scope of works, we often provide converged network designs for building networks, both as part of a wider project scope or as individual projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce detailed network designs for converged building networks, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to define IP and VLAN schedules, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Implement and test approved configurations on switches in the factory before sending to site for installation, ensuring high-quality results.

This flexible role will be primarily based in our Coulsdon office, with occasional travel to project offices in and around London, allowing for a great work-life balance.

Technical Requirements:
  • Proven track record in delivering low-level network designs in the construction industry, with a focus on converged network solutions.
  • Experience coordinating design with wider construction teams, including main contractors, sub-contractors, design teams, and clients, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
  • Experience producing engineering documentation, such as IP schedules, rack elevations, and patching schedules, to support project delivery.
  • Strong experience with Cisco networking technologies, including network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to Cisco Meraki, with a focus on converged network solutions.
  • Professional network qualification, such as Cisco CCNA or another leading network manufacturer provider, demonstrating expertise in network design and implementation.
  • Ability to engineer solutions within budget and highlight possible commercial and technical risks, ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Expertise in setting up switches, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Ability to clearly detail and explain design concepts to design and client teams, justifying design decisions and ensuring effective communication.
  • Relevant technical accreditations and qualifications, demonstrating expertise in network design and implementation.
  • Sound working knowledge of common network manufacturers, such as Cisco, HP, etc., ensuring effective project delivery.
Desirable Additional Experience:
  • Understanding of cloud-based IoT technologies, with a focus on converged network solutions.
  • Experience advising third-party vendors on locking down and configuring their equipment to meet network security standards, ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Experience with common building and IoT protocols, such as Modbus, BACnet, and MQTT, ensuring effective project delivery.
