Commercial Project Accountant

Barclay Meade is seeking a skilled Commercial Project Accountant to join their team at Shoreham-by-Sea on a contract basis. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, this role is crucial for the financial support and strategic decision-making in large programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on project performance, including forecasts, budgets, and actual results.
  2. Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and highlight key risks and opportunities to project stakeholders and senior management.
  3. Financial Modelling: Support the development of financial models for project cost and working capital management.
  4. Project Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of project budgets and maintain rolling forecasts.
  5. Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls.
  7. Financial Partnership: Act as a financial business partner to project managers and other key stakeholders.
  8. Strategic Decision-Making: Provide financial insights to drive strategic decision-making for project execution.
Requirements:
  1. Qualified accountant - ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent.
  2. Proven experience as a project accountant, preferably in a commercial role.
  3. Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting.
  4. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  5. Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to key stakeholders.
  6. Experience working in a PLC.
  7. Sound technical finance capabilities (IFRS) together with operational and commercial expertise.
Competencies:
  1. Flexible approach to working across multiple projects.
