Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a permanent opportunity for a dedicated Band 7 Imaging Physics Clinical Specialist within our esteemed Imaging Physics department. This role involves collaboration with a skilled team of scientists and technologists to deliver extensive scientific support in the domain of radiological imaging, particularly focusing on the application of artificial optical radiations and ensuring compliance with radiation protection protocols across multiple healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will integrate into our Imaging Physics team, contributing to the delivery of clinical services across a diverse array of x-ray diagnostic imaging techniques, artificial optical radiations, and radiation safety measures. Responsibilities will also encompass:
- Providing expert radiation protection and scientific assistance to diagnostic and interventional radiology units.
- Engaging in the educational and training initiatives for various staff categories within the organization.
- Participating in research and development projects to advance imaging physics practices.
A valid driving license for manual vehicles is essential due to the travel requirements associated with this position.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Criteria
- A good (1st or 2nd class) Honours degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- A relevant MSc or higher qualification.
- IPEM Diploma or Certificate of completion of STP in Medical Physics.
- Registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- Corporate Membership of a pertinent professional organization.
- Full UK driving license.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential Criteria
- Comprehensive understanding of radiation principles and familiarity with various procedures and practices within Imaging Physics.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Relevant experience in Medical Physics, particularly in Imaging Physics, including quality assurance testing and analysis of diagnostic imaging apparatus.
- Awareness of patient and staff safety concerns related to ionizing and non-ionizing radiations.
- Proven involvement in the development and delivery of imaging physics and radiation protection services.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, national standards, and professional guidelines.
Technical Proficiencies
Essential Criteria
- Proficiency in using software applications such as Excel, Word, and Access for documentation and data management.
- Capability to work autonomously and manage personal technical responsibilities effectively.
- Competence in presenting scientific findings at national and international forums.
- Ability to assist in training sessions for other professional staff.
- Skill in delivering educational content on complex Imaging Physics topics.
