Clinical Optometry Specialist

Poole, Poole, United Kingdom SpaMedica Full time

Position: Clinical Optometry Specialist

Location: Poole

Working Hours: Flexible arrangements available - Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Compensation: £60,237 - £67,736 Plus a £10,000 Welcome Bonus

Are you ready to advance your career in optometry?

Reflect on the role you envisioned while pursuing your optometry degree. Many professionals aspire to engage in clinical practice, diagnosing ocular conditions and enhancing visual health.

This is precisely the essence of being a SpaMedica Hospital Optometry Specialist. In this role, you will find that traditional sight test charts are absent; instead, your primary tools will be your slit lamp and a dedicated team of nurses and technicians who provide invaluable insights to assist in patient evaluations.

Our emphasis is entirely on patient care, devoid of KPIs, conversion metrics, or sales pressures. No prior experience in the Hospital Eye Service is necessary, as comprehensive training is provided. Even as you gain independence, you will always have access to senior Optometrists and prescribers for ongoing support in your clinical decision-making.

We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative environment where our professional team supports one another to deliver exceptional patient care.

Our network of over 140 hospital optometrists primarily supports the cataract service, enjoying diverse clinical experiences in pre-operative, post-operative, and YAG laser treatment settings. Additionally, many optometrists engage in Medical Retina and Glaucoma services or contribute to our private service, Freedom Vision.

If you thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are alike, have a passion for ocular disease, and wish to acquire new skills such as YAG laser and prescribing, this role is tailored for you.

We are committed to providing the successful candidate with Independent Prescribing training, fully funded to enhance your professional journey with SpaMedica.

At SpaMedica, our core values revolve around patient care, safety, and satisfaction. As the UK's leading provider of NHS cataract surgery, our expertise is reflected in the five-star feedback from our patients.

By joining us as a Clinical Optometry Specialist, you will embody our principles of safety, integrity, kindness, and transparency, ensuring that these values are integral to our daily operations and patient interactions.

If you prioritize patient-centered care in all your endeavors, we encourage you to explore this opportunity.

In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including performance bonuses, we offer a £10,000 welcome bonus upon joining, subject to terms and conditions.

All SpaMedica facilities have received 'Good' or 'Outstanding' ratings from the CQC, and we are proud to have achieved Investors In People Platinum Accreditation.

SpaMedica is an equal opportunities employer, dedicated to promoting equality for all staff and candidates.

Our organization is committed to safe and equitable recruitment practices, ensuring that all personnel are vetted, selected, trained, and supervised to maintain high standards of care.

"Our patients are our priority. As the UK's foremost cataract surgery provider, we strive to offer meaningful contributions to your career while transforming the lives of our patients. By joining us, you can make a significant impact on people's lives."
