We are seeking an Event Registration Officer to become a vital part of our dynamic team in Aylesbury, with occasional responsibilities across the County.

About Us

The Buckinghamshire Registration Service is responsible for documenting all significant life events in Buckinghamshire, including births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships. Our primary offices are located in Aylesbury and Beaconsfield Old Town, supplemented by various smaller locations throughout the County.

Buckinghamshire Council is a newly formed entity that merges the strengths of the previous five councils in the region, aiming to foster positive changes for local residents, communities, and businesses. Our focus is on future improvements and a commitment to enhancing service delivery and representation for Buckinghamshire at both local and national levels.

About the Role

In this position, you will support the execution of civil marriage and partnership ceremonies at registration offices, approved venues, registered buildings, and religious sites where a Registrar's presence is necessary. Following comprehensive training, you will be evaluated for your ability to conduct ceremonies, which will encompass commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, citizenship ceremonies, as well as marriages and civil partnerships.

The working hours will fluctuate, as our operations are highly seasonal. The peak season typically spans from Easter to the end of October, during which we expect you to maintain good availability, including weekdays. A minimum of two Saturdays per month will be required between Easter and September, along with Bank Holidays throughout the year. Work hours will vary based on demand, with ceremonies often scheduled during the week, particularly on weekends and Bank Holidays. Additionally, you may need to cover evening ceremonies as required on a rotational basis.

On-the-Go:

Our 'on-the-go' roles entail starting and concluding your day from a central base, traveling between various locations throughout the day. A fixed desk is not necessary, but you will have access to our network for administrative tasks and updates.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills and experience interacting with diverse individuals in various situations. Flexibility is essential, particularly during peak periods, with the ability to respond to short-notice requests. Proficiency in IT and strong organizational skills are required. Previous experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous.

A professional appearance is expected, and access to a vehicle is necessary to facilitate travel to various locations across the County.
