Quantum Materials Research Coordinator

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced research coordinator to support the Quantum and Advanced Materials technologies for a Sustainable Society (QAMSS) Strategic Research Initiative (SRI). The successful candidate will work closely with the SRI Co-Chairs and Steering Committee to develop and implement the initiative's strategy, manage the SRI team, and grow and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement the QAMSS-SRI strategy, in collaboration with the SRI Co-Chairs and Steering Committee.
- Manage the SRI team, including coordinating activities, meetings, and events.
- Grow and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and researchers.
- Communicate business needs and market drivers from industry to the SRI team and stakeholders.
- Support the Cambridge Graphene Centre (CGC), Graphene Flagship, and other projects, accounting for 50% of the time.
- PhD level qualification in a scientific or technical subject relevant to the role's remit.
- Experience in dealing with new product and/or process development for industry.
- Previous exposure to company dynamics and the capability to bridge the gap between research and business goals.
- Knowledge of the patenting process, licensing, or other aspects of technology transfer.
- Experience in new business development and setting B2B or academic-industry collaborations.
- Excellent communication and IT skills, including the ability to produce and update webpages, produce and disseminate press releases, and deal with media and press.
The successful applicant will be based in West Cambridge and will be expected to spend part of their time in the departments and centers supporting the SRI initiative. The SRI Chairs and Steering Committee members will ensure office and meeting spaces are available for the SRI Coordinator to use.
