Job Title: Creative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, including drive trains, electric motor assemblies, and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with engineering staff to create mechanical designs, including 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  2. Utilize CAD design tools, such as SolidWorks, to produce engineering information.
  3. Perform simulation, analysis, and hand calculations to verify engineering designs.
  4. Liaise with production and quality teams to take products into full-scale production.
  5. Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation.
  6. Assist with improvement of quality control, yield, and quality assurance.
  7. Contribute to hazard analysis and risk assessment process improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  2. 3+ years experience of product development in an industrial/automotive/marine setting.
  3. A strong background in 3D CAD/CAM design, ideally using SolidWorks.
  4. Electro-mechanical packaging / enclosure design.
  5. Design calculations from engineering fundamentals.
  6. Experience of materials, including stainless steels and engineering plastics.
  7. Experience of Automotive or marine industry / equipment.
  8. Experience of both traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.
