Job Title: Registered General Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered General Health Nurse to join our team at Somerset Ward, a 16-bedded ward based at St Thomas' Hospital. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians in the field of plastic surgery, providing high-quality care to patients with a range of conditions.

Job Summary

The Registered General Health Nurse will be responsible for coordinating a shift, managing a group of patients within the specialty, and delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist care, and provide relevant advice and information to patients and relatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist care, including history taking, physical examination, and requesting diagnostic procedures.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring a patient-oriented approach to care and meeting standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning, delivery, and evaluation of individualized care.
  • Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advanced clinical skills, responsible for carrying out specialist nursing procedures.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of coordinating a shift and managing patients within the specialty.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist care.
  • Understanding of resource management, audit, and research-based nursing practice.
  • Mentorship/Teaching Qualification and BSC/1st degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
