About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Assistant Director to join our Education Directorate in Essex County Council. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our education services and driving improvement in educational outcomes for children and young people across North East Essex.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the strategic delivery of educational outcomes for all children and young people in North East Essex
  • Develop and implement our vision for a SEND system that identifies and assesses need at an earlier stage and provides appropriate support
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to build effective partnerships and drive improvement in inclusive practice in schools, early years settings, and colleges
  • Develop and lead on the strategic oversight of the quadrant, ensuring education meets ECC strategic priorities and statutory duties
  • Accountable for ensuring that all children with SEND have appropriate assessments to identify their specific needs and ensure the support specified is delivered and effective

You will need to be creative and innovative, with a proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within the education sector. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential for this role.
