Position Overview

Our Engineering Net Zero initiative is integral to our worldwide mission, concentrating on incorporating carbon reduction into all aspects of our operations and harmonizing our leading carbon expertise throughout our international organization.

Your contributions will empower the entire organization to assist our clients in achieving their Environmental Net Zero objectives and equip our personnel with the necessary knowledge, tools, and methodologies to promote carbon reduction across all projects.

We have set ambitious targets for our upcoming initiatives, including:
  • Implementing comprehensive Whole Life Carbon Management practices at every phase of project execution.
  • Providing the necessary tools and methodologies to ensure that cost-effective carbon reduction becomes standard practice.
  • Establishing a framework to monitor and report on carbon emissions mitigated on behalf of our clients.
  • Equipping our teams with the expertise and confidence to engage with clients regarding carbon matters.
This role offers a unique opportunity for significant influence and visibility across our global operations, collaborating directly with senior leadership to shape our client interactions towards a sustainable and resilient future.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual seeking to advance their career while helping to define the strategic vision for our global operations. Experience in a variety of carbon and climate-related projects, preferably within a consultancy setting, is advantageous, although relevant experience from sectors such as construction, transportation, or infrastructure may also be applicable.

You will collaborate as part of a focused team operating across diverse geographies, markets, and sectors, including buildings, transportation, and water, to enhance our digitally-driven carbon-focused design capabilities. Regular engagement with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders, from Managing Directors to Market Leaders and regional Leadership Teams, will be essential.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Act as a trusted subject matter expert in carbon assessment and management, collaborating with the global team to implement the Environmental Net Zero Programme.
  • Partner with the broader Environmental Net Zero team to cultivate an industry-leading carbon-focused design capability, ensuring that whole life carbon management is seamlessly integrated into project delivery as part of standard operations.
  • Build and sustain robust internal networks across all key business areas and initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development and execution of a global training program to enhance the skills of the next generation of carbon specialists within our organization.
  • Provide strategic carbon management guidance for major proposals and high-profile projects, ensuring the application of global best practices and consistency.
What You Bring:
  • Experience in whole life carbon management related to significant infrastructure projects, the transportation sector, and/or water management is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with various methodologies for carbon measurement and assessment in projects.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting standards, such as PAS 2080:2016 and PAS 2060, along with proficiency in carbon calculation tools like OneClick LCA, Etool, and EC3.
  • Experience in a range of carbon and climate initiatives, ideally within a consultancy environment, though other relevant experience will be considered.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to the Net Zero agenda.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while establishing structure and governance in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders globally.
  • A proactive self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Strong collaborative skills, bringing together diverse teams across the organization to develop and implement ideas and projects.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on both big-picture strategies and detailed execution.
