About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Data Scientist to join our Jet2 Data Science team. As a key member of our team, you will be empowered to lead the delivery of key data science initiatives, combining insights gained from multiple large data sources with the contextual understanding and experience of our colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of data science initiatives, working closely with internal teams to identify and collaborate with stakeholders across the wider group.
  • Line manage and coach data scientists, taking responsibility for championing our ways of working and assisting the breakdown of initiatives into measurable tasks.
  • Execute the application of machine learning and statistical modelling tools suited to the identified initiative, working with a pod of Data Scientists.
  • Develop and communicate clear data visualisations and recommendations on how the business can realise value from this work.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements throughout projects.
Requirements
  • Highly numerate with a statistical background, and strong expertise in Python.
  • Strong SQL skills, with exposure to Snowflake desirable, and the ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau.
  • Experience in leading data science initiatives from concept into production and quantifying realised value.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms available for data science and storage desirable.
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources, cleanse and enrich that data, and appreciate the importance of data governance.
  • Commitment to keeping knowledge up to date through self-learning, and be supported with opportunities to complete relevant courses, attend industry events, and obtain technical certifications.
