Lead Data Scientist

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Data Scientist to join our Jet2 Data Science team. As a key member of our team, you will be empowered to lead the delivery of key data science initiatives, combining insights gained from multiple large data sources with the contextual understanding and experience of our colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of data science initiatives, working closely with internal teams across the business to identify, collaborate with, and enthuse stakeholders.
  • Line manage and coach data scientists, taking responsibility for and championing our ways of working, assisting the breakdown of initiatives into measurable tasks, monitoring progress in stand-ups, and reporting progress to the Data Science Management team.
  • Execute the application of machine learning and statistical modelling tools suited to the identified initiative, working with a pod of Data Scientists.
  • Develop and communicate clear data visualisations and recommendations on how the business can realise value from data-driven insights.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements throughout projects.
Requirements:
  • Highly numerate with a statistical background, and strong expertise in Python.
  • Strong SQL skills, with exposure to Snowflake desirable, and the ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau.
  • Experience in leading data science initiatives from concept into production and quantifying realised value.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms available for data science and storage desirable.
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources, in multiple formats, and cleanse and enrich that data.
  • Appreciation of the importance of data governance and ability to assess and enhance the quality of data.
  • Commitment to keeping knowledge up to date through self-learning, and support for opportunities to complete relevant courses, attend industry events, and obtain technical certifications.
