Milestone Infrastructure is seeking to hire a Cost Estimator to join our team focused on the Wiltshire Highways Term Maintenance contract.

In this role, you will be an integral part of our Commercial Team, tasked with overseeing the financial aspects of highway maintenance operations throughout Wiltshire. Your primary objective will be to safeguard and enhance the company's financial interests by managing commercial functions in accordance with contractual obligations.

The Wiltshire Highways Maintenance Contract is designed to provide essential maintenance and enhancement services for various highway assets, including safety repairs, drainage management, footway upgrades, grass maintenance, street lighting, and seasonal services. This work is primarily executed by our dedicated workforce stationed at multiple depots, supported by a network of local and national partners. Our operational teams benefit from a strong commercial support structure to ensure that all completed tasks are accurately measured and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee commercial activities related to highway maintenance projects
  • Assist in managing subcontractor accounts, including evaluating payment requests and issuing payment notifications
  • Generate and assess cost and value reports in collaboration with the Managing Cost Estimator/Commercial Manager
  • Engage in monthly Cost Value Reconciliation meetings with Commercial and Operational teams
  • Ensure compliance with Milestone Infrastructure's Commercial Guidelines and corporate standards
  • Support the preparation of Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events as directed by the Managing Cost Estimator
  • Manage change control processes for Contractors/Subcontractors
  • Provide necessary information and responses to Client audit inquiries
  • Price Compensation Events
  • Perform additional commercial tasks and technical administration as required by the Managing Cost Estimator/Commercial Manager
  • Conduct site visits and measurements
  • Offer Quantity Surveying support to other divisions within Milestone Infrastructure as needed

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Causeway Project Accounting and HIAMS is advantageous
  • Experience in highway maintenance, particularly under NEC contract frameworks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize your workload, maintain a systematic approach, and demonstrate consistency and diligence
  • Analytical mindset with a capacity to question and verify information
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
