We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Lead Social Care Practitioner to become a vital part of our dedicated team at Barnardo's Scotland Fostering North. This role is offered on a part-time, permanent basis.
Work Environment: The successful candidate will primarily work from home, with occasional travel required across various regions. Meetings and training sessions may take place across the country, with an office base available for support.
As a Lead Social Care Practitioner, you will collaborate with a diverse team of social workers, child support staff, therapists, management, and administrative personnel. Your primary focus will be on the recruitment and ongoing support of foster caregivers who provide essential care to children and young individuals referred to our services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to provide guidance, support, and advice to caregivers, demonstrating initiative while fostering teamwork.
- Prioritize the welfare of children and young people in all service aspects.
- Ensure the perspectives of children, young people, and caregivers are represented through active participation and consultation initiatives.
- Conduct relevant training sessions for foster caregivers and adopters, ensuring materials are updated to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
- Exhibit flexibility in responding to the needs of young individuals, caregivers, and colleagues.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in fostering assessments or related fields.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and national standards.
- Appropriate social work qualifications such as DipSW, CSS, or CQSW.
- Valid social work registration.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child protection protocols.
- Previous experience in childcare settings or relevant pre-qualifying work experience in family placements.
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
