Orthopedic Consultant Position Overview

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a dedicated and proficient Orthopedic Consultant to enhance our medical team. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

Essential Qualifications
  • Valid GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • FRCS in Trauma and Orthopedics
  • Certified in Basic Life Support
  • Higher Degree such as MD, PhD, or MSc (Desirable)
  • Comprehensive experience in Trauma and Orthopedics
  • Proficiency in General Trauma and Orthopedic procedures
  • Specialization in lower limb arthroplasty
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Participation in clinical audits and understanding of their role in enhancing medical practice
  • Experience in critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes
  • Understanding of NHS management and structure
Desirable Qualifications
  • Specialist Register with GMC or CCT anticipated within 6 months of interview, or CESR or equivalent European qualifications
  • Experience within the NHS
  • Broader experience, research, and training in subspecialty services
Research and Education
  • Experience in initiating and completing research projects with publications
  • Evidence of organizing educational programs for medical students and junior doctors
  • Knowledge of NHS management and structure
