Job Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to clients' dietary needs while adhering to budget constraints.
- Organize the kitchen efficiently and safely.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to Environmental Health standards.
Main Duties
- Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Follow and present menus in an appealing manner.
- Gather feedback on resident satisfaction regarding meals.
- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen budget and addressing discrepancies.
- Maintain hygiene standards in food storage, handling, and preparation.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment and report any issues.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef on food supply orders and maintain accurate records.
- Foster professional relationships with suppliers.
- Dispose of waste according to company guidelines.
- Adhere to the uniform policy and wear protective clothing as required.
- Operate kitchen machinery safely and report any faults.
- Report any incidents or hazards to management.
- Familiarize yourself with company policies regarding workplace safety and procedures.
- Optimize kitchen space and manage stock rotation effectively.
- Maintain adequate emergency supplies without overstocking.
- Stay informed about residents' specific dietary needs.
- Participate in training and meetings as required.
- Engage in menu planning and contribute to entertainment committee discussions.
- Keep kitchen equipment clean and in safe working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
- Maintain a current food hygiene certificate.
- Perform any reasonable duties as directed by management to ensure the smooth operation of the nursing home.
