Job Summary

The Director of Nursing and Operations will provide strategic leadership and management of nursing and midwifery services across the Clinical Service Units (CSU) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, clinically effective, and compassionate care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership to nursing and midwifery teams
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Care and Service Delivery
    • Oversee the delivery of nursing and midwifery services across the CSU
    • Ensure compliance with professional, organisational, and national standards
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including the Clinical Director and General Manager
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Financial Management
    • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of funds
    • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Human Resources and Education
    • Recruit, develop, and retain nursing and midwifery staff
    • Provide education and training to staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge
  • Act as a Member of the CSU Triumvirate
    • Contribute to decision-making and strategic planning
    • Represent the interests of nursing and midwifery staff

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior nursing or midwifery leadership role
  • Strong leadership and management skills
