Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer

Shenley Brook End, United Kingdom NCP NETWORK LTD Full time

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain optimal lean workspace configurations and layout strategies for designated production streams, ensuring alignment with both current and anticipated output targets.

Oversee the management of existing CAD layout documentation, and upon proposing modifications, create and present subsequent layout CAD drawings along with finalized versions.

Establish and uphold necessary lean structured process documentation (including sequence, tasks, materials, consumables, tools, health and safety protocols, standard/core times, and setup/run cycle times for each task), tailored for each designated production stream to meet current and projected output needs.

Ensure lean balanced operations (considering time, personnel, and equipment capacity) throughout each process flow for the assigned production streams, accommodating flexibility for varying output rates where applicable.

Design, implement, and maintain effective lean and safe (risk-assessed) presentation methods/formats that are user-friendly, based on simplified skill requirements, along with work instructions/Standard Operating Procedures for each structured process documentation stage.

Focus on meeting engineering specifications and quality standards at minimal costs for each designated production stream to achieve current and projected output targets.

Define, implement, and sustain lean point-of-use logistics/storage solutions, including media/hardware and systems for each operation/stage throughout the process flow for the assigned production streams, ensuring alignment with output requirements.

Identify, implement, and maintain lean and financially justified tools, equipment, and machinery for each operation/stage within the process flow for the designated production streams, ensuring they meet output targets.

Specify, provide, and sustain lean consumables for each operation/stage within the process flow for the assigned production streams, ensuring they align with output requirements.

Establish and maintain lean manual standard core times for each process step/stage, accounting for 'Value-added times' plus 'Necessary non-value added times' minus 'Unnecessary Non-Value Added Times'.

This includes setting up and maintaining lean cycle run times for plant and equipment across each operation/stage in the process flow for the designated production streams.

Manage VM data (MRP) structures and fields, including engineering master/works order structures, resources, standard times, operations/legs, etc., for each product routed to the assigned production stream.

Conduct and maintain necessary risk assessments and health and safety protocols for each operation/stage throughout the defined process flow steps/tasks, ensuring safe practices for each designated production stream step/task.

Identify and evaluate potential automation opportunities that are financially justifiable for integration within the operations/stages of the process flow for the assigned production streams, ensuring alignment with output requirements.

Audit and review process adherence and improvements for existing and new operational processes to eliminate inefficiencies, ensuring alignment with output targets for each operation/stage within the designated production streams.

Define, scope, design, and maintain necessary jigs, fixtures, lifting equipment (slings/beams), and production aids for each operation/stage throughout the process flow for the assigned production streams, ensuring they meet output requirements.

Note:
Collaboration with external providers and internal team members will be assessed as needed.

Facilitate effective stakeholder meetings for all designated areas of responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience:
Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and expertise in developing and supporting both new and existing production lines and equipment.

Level 5 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience.

Proven working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies in the manufacturing sector is preferred.

Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma is advantageous.

Demonstrated experience in engineering/manufacturing roles.

Strong analytical skills coupled with effective negotiation and conflict resolution abilities, along with proficiency in computer applications, are beneficial.

Characteristics:
Adaptable to changes within the production engineering landscape.

Strong organizational, planning, and implementation capabilities.

Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Self-motivated with a positive outlook.

Results-oriented approach.

Working Hours & Salary:
Standard working hours for this role are 40 hours per week (08:00 - 16:30, Monday - Friday)

Benefits:
(To be discussed during the screening call)
