Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anatomical Pathology Technician to join our team at Deekay Technical. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining sterile and hygienic conditions in the mortuary, preparing bodies for post-mortem examination, and assisting pathologists with toxicology specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to the Human Tissue Act 2004, relevant legislation, and guiding principles. Maintain a safe and hygienic environment, including cleaning equipment and disposing of clinical waste.
  2. Body Management: Receive, identify, store, and release bodies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring security and return of valuables.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with officers, local authorities, police, coroner's officers, pathologists, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  4. Post-Mortem Preparation: Prepare bodies for examination, assist pathologists, and collect and label samples.
  5. Specialized Tasks: Remove pacemakers, handle foul or infected bodies, and notify colleagues of bodies requiring attention.
  6. Equipment Maintenance: Perform periodic checks on mechanical equipment, maintain records, and recommend maintenance and safety improvements.
  7. Stock Management: Monitor and notify colleagues of stock levels, recommend changes in cleaning materials and procedures, and maintain a safe and organized environment.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in a mortuary or anatomical pathology setting (preferred)

Working Hours

35 hours per week

Pay Rate

£20.00-£25.00 per hour
