About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maths and English Tutor to join our Education and Skills team at The Growth Company. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering effective Functional Skills and GCSE lessons to learners, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to inform learner placement on effective programmes of learning.
  • Personalise learning experiences for individuals using IA outcomes and available information.
  • Implement inclusive strategies to support and challenge learners with diverse needs.
  • Manage learner behaviour and classroom climate to create a secure and positive learning environment.
  • Assess learners' work and provide diagnostic and personalised feedback to drive progress.
  • Monitor progress of individuals and groups to ensure rapid and sustained progress.
  • Identify learners at risk of underachievement and collaborate with colleagues to provide prompt intervention.
  • Contribute to the development of the Maths and English team by working collaboratively on resources and pedagogy.

  • Ability to manage time and workload, working to tight deadlines.
Requirements
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills and GCSE in challenging environments.
  • Experience planning, teaching, and assessing for progress.
  • Subject-specific and teaching qualifications appropriate to the role.
  • Able to motivate disengaged learners and plan engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Genuine commitment to improving the prospects of young people and adult learners.
  • Recent experience teaching 'hard to reach' learners.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly across multiple sites.
