Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity is available for a Psychological Support Assistant to become part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing supervised services within secure facilities for men. This role is situated in an inpatient low-secure environment.
Our secure inpatient services are integral to a diverse and expanding range of clinical offerings associated with the criminal justice system. The Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust Secure Services provides low and medium secure mental health care for men, alongside innovative integrated secure mental health services for women, mental health and personality disorder support in local prisons, community forensic services, criminal justice liaison and diversion services, as well as Offender Personality Disorder services in collaboration with probation services.
Key Responsibilities
In this capacity, the individual will collaborate with a Psychologist on a 16-bedded admission, assessment, and rehabilitation low-secure ward for men. The successful candidate will operate under the guidance of the established NSFT Secure Services Psychology Team. This role presents the chance to assist in conducting risk assessments, mental health evaluations, and brief psychological interventions for service users, as well as co-facilitating therapeutic group sessions. As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will engage with the ward staff to develop and implement positive behavior support strategies and provide psychological insights and formulations.
The role encompasses working with a variety of mental health challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Additionally, there will be opportunities to gain knowledge about offense-specific assessments, formulations, and interventions offered by the team.
