Job Title: Residential Childcare Deputy Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Residential Childcare Deputy Manager to join our team at Bay View. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Registered Manager in the leadership and management of the day-to-day operations of the Home.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager at any time when they are not physically present.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Home, ensuring that National Standards are consistently exceeded.
  • Improve the lives of all young people resident at the Home.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including family, friends, and placing authorities.
  • Manage staff fairly and professionally, ensuring that all objectives are achieved.
Performance Standards:
  • Care plans are produced, reviewed, and submitted to the Registered Manager for approval.
  • Legal requirements, Ofsted standards, and company policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Feedback from residents, family, and friends is noted and communicated to the Registered Manager.
  • The Registered Manager is kept informed of all important issues and developments within the Home.
  • Staff are aware of the standards of behaviour required and any deviation is addressed directly.
  • Staff are approachable, friendly, and professional, creating an open and positive environment.
Business Management and Improvement:
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager, taking responsibility for managing all day-to-day aspects of the Home.
  • Ensure that no element of the expenditure budget is exceeded without prior permission.
  • Assist with menu planning, cooking, and purchasing of foodstuffs.
  • Lead the weekly staff meeting, ensuring that all staff have the opportunity to communicate concerns and ideas.
  • Involve staff in decisions that affect their jobs on a day-to-day basis.
Staff Management:
  • Manage staff fairly and consistently, ensuring that the level of staff turnover is kept to a minimum.
  • Deal with day-to-day staff management issues quickly, fairly, and professionally.
  • Conduct return to work interviews as necessary.
  • Manage employee absence in accordance with the agreed policy and procedure.
Health and Safety:
  • Ensure that all legal health and safety requirements and company policies are complied with at all times.
  • Follow good personal hygiene standards, as specified in company policies.
  • Ensure that all staff abide by company health and safety policies and procedures.
