Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Optical Scientist to join our Laser and Optical Sensing team in Malvern. As an Optical Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and building experimental setups, employing systems engineering principles, assembling, integrating, and testing systems, developing technological strategy, and providing bid-winning support to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build experimental setups to test and evaluate optical systems
  • Employ systems engineering principles to develop and integrate optical systems
  • Assemble, integrate, and test optical systems to ensure they meet performance requirements
  • Develop technological strategy to drive innovation and growth in the field of optical communications
  • Provide bid-winning support to the business by developing and presenting technical proposals

Requirements

  • PhD in Photonics or a related field
  • Experience in optical design and systems engineering
  • Strong understanding of laser-based remote sensing and free space optical communications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues
