Horticulture Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Horticulture Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a Horticulture Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teacher in delivering engaging horticulture lessons to students with complex needs.

About the Role:
  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering horticulture lessons that cater to the individual needs of students
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, promoting inclusivity and accessibility
  • Modify learning materials to ensure they are tailored to the needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver engaging horticulture lessons that promote student learning and participation
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters mutual respect and security
  • Utilize the garden and greenhouse facilities to provide practical and hands-on learning experiences
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and recommendations to the teacher
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate horticulture into educational goals and objectives
  • Maintain the garden and greenhouse facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained and safe for students
Requirements:
  • Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Education, or a relevant field
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties
  • Strong understanding of horticulture practices and principles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members
  • Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for working with students with diverse needs
