Position: Urban Planning Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Urban Planning Officer to join our team, focusing on Development Management within a local authority framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the processing of Development Management tasks, including pre-application consultations and planning applications.
  • Negotiate with developers and stakeholders to secure community benefits through legal agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations while delivering services in a customer-oriented manner.
  • Support junior team members and provide guidance as necessary.
  • Represent the Council at Public Inquiries and Informal hearings.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related field, supporting RTPI membership.
  • Experience in delivering services to clients and managing complex development projects.
  • Proven ability to negotiate legal agreements related to planning applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload.
  • Experience working within a Local Authority setting.

This role offers an initial contract period with the potential for extension, operating Monday to Friday, with standard working hours.

All candidates will undergo onboarding and compliance checks prior to commencement.
