About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Community Mental Health Team and Memory Service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality psychological assessments and interventions to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of clients referred to our teams, utilizing complex data from various sources.
  • Formulate and implement plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients' mental health problems, based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence.
  • Provide a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as needed.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models, as well as highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
  • Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
  • Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plan.
  • Contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework or understanding and care to the benefit of all clients or the service, across all settings and agencies.
  • Undertake risk assessment and management for individual clients and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
  • Act as lead professional, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans, including clients, their carers, referring agents, and others involved in the network of care.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of a British Psychological Society accredited Doctoral Level postgraduate professional training course in clinical or counselling psychology.
  • Eligibility for entry onto the HCPC Register of Practitioner Psychologists.
  • Experience of working under supervision in secondary care mental health services.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and the delivery of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based interventions with service users who have a range of psychological needs of a complex nature.
  • Experience of carrying out post-doctoral research, audit, or service evaluation projects.
