Supervisor - Engineering

A&P Group, Falmouth - A Key Role in Our Engineering Team

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to join our Engineering team at our Falmouth facility. As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of Mechanical Fitters and Machinists who are repairing ships.

About the Role

As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work is performed to the required standards, adhering to ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) standards.

You will maintain high standards of quality, productivity, and safety, preparing written risk assessments and identifying requirements for the safe completion of work.

Working closely with our Project / Ship Managers, ship's staff, sub-contractors, and other Supervisors, you will monitor workflow, allocate tasks, and ensure optimal use of resources and materials, reporting any potential changes to specification work or extra work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Mechanical Fitters and Machinists
  • Ensure all work is performed to required standards
  • Maintain high standards of quality, productivity, and safety
  • Prepare written risk assessments and identify requirements for safe completion of work
  • Monitor workflow, allocate tasks, and ensure optimal use of resources and materials
  • Report any potential changes to specification work or extra work

Requirements

We are looking for a qualified engineer with experience working in the ship building/repair, marine industry, or a similar heavy industrial environment. You will need excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively supervise your team.

This role will require a commitment to working overtime when needed. We offer a competitive package, including minimum 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 4% pension contribution, and a generous death in service benefit.
