About the Role

Five Education is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Inclusion Specialist to join our team. As an Inclusion Specialist, you will be working in a large secondary school with an extended inclusion unit, supporting students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Support Student Development: Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them develop a positive sense of self and self-regulation strategies.
  2. Manage Challenging Behaviour: Remain calm and patient in challenging situations, using effective strategies to manage behaviour.
  3. Deliver Interventions: Work with the class teacher to deliver planned interventions, supporting students' social, emotional, and mental health development.
  4. Feedback and Collaboration: Provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENDCo, ensuring effective collaboration and support for students.
Essential Criteria
  • Calm and Patient Approach: Remain calm in challenging situations, using a patient and empathetic approach to support students.
  • Building Relationships: Build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Good Listening Skills: Demonstrate excellent listening skills, actively engaging with students and staff to understand their needs.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Show flexibility and adaptability, using your own initiative to support students and staff.
  • Patience and Resilience: Demonstrate patience and resilience, maintaining a positive attitude in challenging situations.
Desirable Criteria
  • Team Teach Qualification: Hold a Team Teach qualification, demonstrating expertise in managing challenging behaviour.
  • Teaching Assistant Qualification: Possess a Teaching Assistant qualification, showcasing your ability to support students and staff.
  • Secondary School Experience: Have prior experience working in a secondary school, understanding the needs and challenges of this environment.
