About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yacht Surveyor to join our Maritime team at AqualisBraemar LOC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting surveying tasks and assisting in business delivery to provide sufficient surveyor coverage in the geographic area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of all business line services and their key deliverables.
- Attend casualties, assessing the nature, extent, and cause of damages.
- Estimate repair costs and prepare detailed reports for clients.
- Engage in business development by promoting ABL Group's Engineering Consulting services to local and international clients.
- Support marketing initiatives for the business line and its services.
- Maintain a billable utilization rate of over 60%.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Ensure strict adherence to company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems, and regulations at all ABL premises, project sites, and client locations.
Requirements
- A qualified Chief Engineer or Master Mariner or equivalent with significant survey / consultancy-related experience and/or training.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards.
- Strong decision-making, technical, and analytical skills with a focus on operational excellence.
- Delivers accurate, high-quality work on time with effective multitasking.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Assertive, proactive, and ethically grounded with a professional demeanor.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and commercially savvy.
- Outgoing, pragmatic, and a strong team player.
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant short courses, such as paint inspector, are advantageous.
- Experience as Chief Engineer or Captain, or in technical ship management.
- Knowledge of marine insurance and admiralty law.
- Proficient in vessel dry dockings, machinery damage, and repairs.
- Experience of public speaking, authoring industry articles, and a professional network.
- Membership of a professional body such as IMarEST or the Nautical Institute.
