Position Overview:
Ward 303 is seeking a dedicated and innovative leader to take on the role of Oncology Charge Nurse/Sister. This position requires a compassionate individual who is eager to implement change and enhance patient care within an acute healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold professionalism and maintain high standards of care at all times.
- Lead a diverse team in providing care for acutely unwell oncology and haematology patients.
- Manage planned admissions for various elective treatments, including specialized therapies.
- Support patients nearing the end of life and those requiring complex symptom management.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a current NMC registration and demonstrate substantial post-registration experience. While leadership experience is preferred, this role will provide ongoing development opportunities. A solid understanding of oncology treatments, including chemotherapy administration, is essential.
Desired Attributes:
The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional communication skills and a commitment to fostering positive change. A visible, reliable, and adaptable leadership style is crucial to ensure that high standards of care are consistently met.
Training and Development:
While competency in chemotherapy administration and triaging acutely unwell oncology patients is preferred, comprehensive training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
Additional Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the ability to act in the absence of the Senior Sister, overseeing the overall operations of the ward, which includes conducting audits, implementing improvement initiatives, supporting staff, and managing rosters.
