Neuro-Rehabilitation Staff Nurse

Position Overview
The Oxford Centre for Enablement (OCE) is dedicated to providing specialized rehabilitation services for individuals aged 16 and above who have experienced neurological incidents. Our patient population primarily consists of those recovering from vascular or traumatic brain injuries due to various causes, including head trauma, strokes, and other brain-related injuries.
This evolving service is seeking enthusiastic professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional care in a dynamic environment.
The OCE Inpatient Ward accommodates patients for a duration of 3 to 6 months and operates as a Level 1 Neuro-rehabilitation center. Our multidisciplinary team (MDT) adopts a patient-centered approach, empowering patients and their families to foster personal growth, regain independence, and successfully reintegrate into society.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals to enhance their clinical, leadership, and management capabilities while making a meaningful impact on the lives of those navigating the challenges of recovery following a brain injury.
Key Responsibilities
As a Band 5 Registered Nurse at the Oxford Centre for Enablement, you will join a specialized interdisciplinary team focused on supporting patients recovering from acquired brain injuries. Key responsibilities include:
- Rehabilitative Nursing: Utilize expert knowledge within the interdisciplinary team to promote patient independence and adaptation during recovery.
- Understanding Brain Injury: Develop insights into brain injuries and the associated behavioral responses of patients.
- Therapeutic Relationships: Establish strong connections with patients and their families to enhance overall well-being.
- Communication Skills: Address the complex communication needs of patients with brain injuries through effective strategies.
- Nutrition Management: Oversee dietary modifications, including gastrostomy or jejunostomy feeding, and stable NG tube feeding as necessary.
- Tissue Viability: Ensure the prevention of skin damage and maintain tissue health.
- Continence Management: Assist in managing continence issues that may arise post-brain injury.
If you possess enthusiasm, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference, this role may align well with your professional aspirations.
