We are seeking a Health and Safety Business Partner to join our team in Manchester. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring our compliance with health and safety regulations and driving innovation in safety culture.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing new working methods and initiatives that improve health and safety across a complex business. They will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust systems to capture and analyze safety metrics, fostering a proactive approach to risk management, and setting new benchmarks in health and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a health and safety strategy that aligns with group, business unit, and account objectives
  • Ensure the operational business effectively implements Amey's mandated Health & Safety policies
  • Champion Amey's 'Safety First, Always' value by consistently applying our Zero Code framework to minimize risks and foster a strong safety culture
  • Stay up-to-date with H&S legislation and industry best practices through continuous professional development
  • Oversee incident investigations, ensuring preventive actions are implemented through thorough root cause analysis
  • Ensure compliance with Amey's competency framework and mandatory H&S training standards
  • Contribute to the review of compulsory risk controls, and lead in developing supplementary controls for business-specific risks where required
  • Assist Business Unit bidding teams by incorporating Amey's H&S strategy and approach into bid submissions
  • Help operational directors formulate compliance and improvement plans aligned with corporate and customer H&S strategies
  • Act as a commercially aware, business-minded partner, ensuring H&S practices support wider business objectives
  • Drive long-term cultural change by strategically planning H&S activities and resources to ensure sustainable improvement
Requirements:
  • Level 6 NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) or working towards achieving this status
  • Proven track record of innovation in health and safety
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect health and safety initiatives to broader business objectives
  • Experience in a diverse, complex business environment
  • Industry-specific experience in construction or engineering, particularly within the rail sector
