Job Overview

The Professional Standards Team within the Medical Directorate is on the lookout for a Band 4 Administrative Support Coordinator to enhance our team, contributing to the execution of our statutory duties as outlined in the National Health Service (Performers Lists) (England) Regulations 2013 and the Medical Profession (Responsible Officers) (Amendment) Regulations 2013.

Our team is dedicated to refining and advancing systems and processes that underpin NHS England's obligation to oversee the National Performers Lists. These lists serve as the regulatory framework ensuring that medical, dental, and ophthalmic practitioners engaged with NHS England for Primary Care Services are qualified and capable of delivering safe and effective care to NHS patients. NHS England is mandated to address any concerns raised regarding a GP, dentist, or ophthalmic performer listed.

Key Responsibilities

The Administrative Support function within the Professional Standards Team offers comprehensive administrative assistance across various projects. The day-to-day responsibilities of the Administrative Support Coordinator will encompass:

  • Managing incoming correspondence and responding to inquiries.
  • Organizing governance meetings and accurately documenting minutes.
  • Coordinating annual performance reviews and preparing revalidation documentation for medical professionals.
  • Processing applications for the performers lists from medical, dental, and ophthalmic practitioners.
  • Assisting case managers, clinical advisors, and investigators.
  • Supporting Regional Dental Leads and Dental Managed Clinical Network Chairs.
  • Handling confidential communications and liaising with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 4 in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive experience with modern office systems, including digital filing and database management.
  • Proven track record in handling sensitive information and engaging with the public/patients.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the healthcare or public sector.
  • Demonstrated ability in minute-taking and report generation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, TEAMS, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
