Production Shift Manager

Latham & Bond HR is seeking a highly skilled Production Shift Supervisor to join our client, a tier-one automotive supplier, in Kidderminster. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the night shift operations to ensure production targets are met while maintaining safety standards, lean practices, and efficient team management.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with production management to meet production plans and ensure smooth operations.
- Lead and oversee a team of 50 technicians, ensuring alignment with KPIs, Lean practices, 5S, and safety regulations.
- Manage people-related tasks, including performance, absence, and timekeeping, in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through KPI tracking, CCARs, scorecards, and workgroup boards.
- Ensure manning levels and skills meet business needs, including controlling holidays.
- Report machine and equipment malfunctions to support departments.
- Work closely with team leaders and support departments to maintain machines and dies according to the TPM schedule.
- Uphold a World Class 5S ethic within all teams.
- Ensure finished products meet customer requirements and are delivered on time.
- 4 team leaders and 2 machine team leaders will oversee operations after 5 pm.
- The Production Shift Supervisor will report directly to the Production Manager.
- Available shifts: 4 pm – midnight or 2 pm – 10 pm.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous exposure to operations such as forge and casting is ideal, though not essential; an experienced ops person can learn on the job.
- Experience in problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
- An FLT license is advantageous.
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Night shift with no management on site after 5 pm; team leaders will oversee operations.
- Shop-floor oriented role.
The successful candidate will be flexible regarding roles, responsibilities, and hours of work, including overtime when required, to ensure business goals are met.
