About Chambers Waste Group Plc
Chambers Waste Group Plc is a well-established, respected company specializing in waste collection, management, and recycling services. Our organization operates two main sites: the Guildford site, which houses our state-of-the-art recycling center and purpose-built head office, and the Runfold site in Farnham, which recycles and sells aggregates to the construction sector.
About the Role
This key position, based across both the Guildford and Farnham sites, will see you take responsibility for running the finance department on a day-to-day basis, reporting directly to the Finance Director. Your primary focus will be on delivering timely, high-quality management accounting for both Chambers Waste and Chambers Runfold. You will lead, support, and develop a team of 8 accounting professionals who handle purchase ledger, sales ledger, billing, and accounts preparation to trial balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce management accounts that are crucial for the Directors to make informed commercial decisions, including a summary with P&L, cost center reports, variances to prior year, and statistical business reports/analysis.
- Use Sage 200 and Excel on a daily basis, alongside bespoke systems used in Operations.
- Partner closely with the FD to identify and address areas of commercial risk and opportunity, and work to continuously evolve and improve processes.
Requirements
- A finance qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) and strong experience in management accounting, preferably in an SME or family-run environment.
- Hands-on experience with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the business and manage the finance department on a day-to-day basis.
- Prior team leadership experience is essential for success.
- Based mainly in the Guildford site with occasional travel to the Farnham site, you must be locally based with access to transport.
- A positive approach and a 'can-do' enthusiasm to drive change and contribute to business growth.
