Position Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Statistics to become a vital part of our Specialty and Primary Care Statistics team at GlaxoSmithKline.

Role Summary:
As a key player in our organization, you will leverage your statistical expertise to enhance the development of innovative medicines and vaccines across various therapeutic areas, including Oncology, Specialty, Primary Care, and Vaccines. Your contributions will significantly impact our mission to improve patient outcomes globally.

Key Responsibilities:
Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Utilizing statistical innovation to guide products throughout their lifecycle, focusing on clinical trial design and data analysis.
  • Establishing statistical strategies that align with overarching product goals.
  • Engaging with external opinion leaders and regulatory bodies to advocate for statistical methodologies.
  • Ensuring the robustness of statistical strategies and effectively defending them in discussions with senior management and regulatory entities.
  • Overseeing the statistical integrity of data dissemination for supported programs.
  • Preparing and presenting Headline Reports and results from clinical studies.
  • Leading pooled and meta-analyses of clinical trials and observational data.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support drug development initiatives.
  • Providing statistical training and education across various departments.
  • Ensuring compliance with best practices in statistical governance and documentation.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Statistics or Biostatistics with extensive experience, or a PhD demonstrating strong leadership in the field of statistics within drug development.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a matrix environment, showcasing negotiation and influence skills.
  • Strong technical abilities and a demonstrated capacity to learn and apply new statistical methods.
  • Experience managing statistical components from study design through to final analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to both scientific and clinical audiences.

Preferred Skills:
Desirable attributes include:
  • Experience with advanced statistical methodologies such as Bayesian methods, longitudinal modeling, causal inference, and machine learning.
  • Background in developing treatments for respiratory diseases.
