Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Benefits, Taxation & Income Officer to join our team at Reed. As a Benefits, Taxation & Income Officer, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring the accurate processing of benefits and taxation-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Benefits Administration: Carry out assessments of free school meals, housing benefits, and council tax support, including areas of subsidy loss and discretion.
- Taxation Services: Provide a comprehensive Non Domestic Rates Service and Council Tax Service, dealing with account administration and the award of discounts, exemptions, and reliefs.
- Debt Recovery: Assist in the recovery and enforcement of Council debt, including council tax, non-domestic rates, and overpaid housing benefit.
- Customer Service: Undertake telephone duties, providing information and guidance on various service areas of the council.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records using Benefits, Taxation, and Income specialist systems, ensuring confidentiality.
- Data Analysis: Assist in the preparation of data and statistical returns to support compliance management.
- Communication: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining communication links.
- Process Improvement: Suggest improvements for service efficiency and performance.
Requirements:
- Experience: Experience in a Financial Services environment.
- Skills: Ability to work to and meet strict deadlines, previous local government experience using authority-based systems, experience in customer services, good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to handle and process large amounts of complex information with accuracy.
