Position Overview

The Global Procurement Category Leader will collaborate closely with the Growth and Business Development teams, as well as product development units, to identify both current and prospective opportunities. This role will also engage with the Bid Purchasing and Subcontract delivery teams to address existing challenges and opportunities related to supplier performance, focusing on Cost, Quality, and Delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously analyze industry trends and category cost factors to inform strategic bids and new product development initiatives.
  • Monitor the supply market for key categories, assessing potential risks and opportunities over a three-year horizon.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to share insights on global economic indicators affecting the supply base.
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers for key categories to enhance performance and mitigate supply risks.
  • Collaborate with New Product Development teams to pinpoint new categories of expenditure related to product launches.
  • Support decision-making processes regarding Make versus Buy strategies.
  • Lead annual cost reduction strategies and initiatives, developing a pipeline of cost-saving projects.
  • Coordinate with Bid Procurement Managers to ensure updated pricing from key suppliers is reflected in all relevant bids.
  • Work with essential functions to define requirements and manage the tendering process for indirect spending categories.

Additional Tasks

  • Facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers to drive sustainable performance improvements and foster stronger relationships.
  • Establish multi-year pricing agreements with key suppliers to ensure accurate pricing in bids and safeguard against cost fluctuations.
  • Develop and maintain a category risk register to identify and manage risks that could impact performance.

Qualifications:

  • CIPS Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A degree in business or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing multi-year category strategies for relevant spending areas.
