Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom Rolls-Royce SMR Full time

Quality Professional – Assurance Programme

Salary - £40,000 - £52,500

Location – Derby/Warrington – Flexible

We are currently seeking a Quality Professional to engage in the safety and regulatory compliance for innovative technology within the nuclear sector.

At Rolls-Royce SMR, we are embarking on a groundbreaking journey. We are transforming an industry, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those eager to embrace such a challenge. This role transcends mere employment; it is about creating a legacy.

Role Overview

This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of the Rolls-Royce SMR Quality Team as a Quality Professional. In this capacity, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing the development and implementation of quality assurance frameworks, processes, and systems that align with nuclear design codes and regulatory standards, as well as best practices and quality excellence.

The team fosters a distinctive inclusive culture, composed of skilled quality professionals collaborating to achieve excellence. This position offers a unique chance to establish and enhance systems and processes while pioneering a new energy technology. As Rolls-Royce SMR develops a comprehensive Small Modular Reactor system, you will gain insights into all components and systems, coupled with diverse stakeholder interactions, providing invaluable experience and knowledge.

As the team expands, there is significant potential for career advancement; as the organization grows, so too will your skills and capabilities.

We understand that confidence can sometimes deter individuals from applying for a position. However, we believe there is no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the qualifications for this role, we encourage you to reach out.

Additionally, if you are contemplating a career transition or exploring a different sector, we welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret stakeholder and design code requirements, ensuring effective quality programme and design code processes and governance are implemented.

- Assist in the development and management of the quality assurance programme, quality manuals, implementation plans, and key performance indicators to fulfill design code and regulatory obligations supporting the strategic objectives of Rolls-Royce SMR.

- Cultivate strong relationships with functions, internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry organizations.

- Provide support for the Rolls-Royce SMR certification programme and external nuclear regulatory evaluations and reviews.

- Develop processes and procedures, facilitating process mapping and problem-solving activities and workshops.

Qualifications & Experience

- Degree in a relevant discipline.

- Proven experience in a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

We anticipate offering a salary ranging from £40,000 to £52,500, along with:

- Bonus: Performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%

- Benefits Allowance: £2,200, allowing you to customize your benefits package.

- Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.

- Holidays: 28 days of holiday (+ public holidays) with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days.

- Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover health care.

- Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay.

- £250: One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases.

About Rolls-Royce SMR

Rolls-Royce SMR stands out as an employer, merging the prestigious brand of Rolls Royce with the dynamic nature of a start-up, facing a formidable mission. Our work contributes to the sustainability of the planet. The energy and pace within our organization are palpable, driven by leaders who inspire with their passion and determination.

We are among the few employers who can genuinely claim to be a strengths-based organization—our team members are here because of their unique talents, and our mission is to help them make significant contributions in roles they are passionate about.

The start-up culture combined with our strengths-focused approach offers opportunities for growth in ways that may not be available in more traditional companies.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low-carbon energy, equivalent to over 150 onshore wind turbines, sufficient to power a million homes. This will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, aiding the rollout of renewable energy and addressing intermittency challenges.

Our Commitment to Culture

At Rolls-Royce SMR, we are dedicated to ensuring our teams reflect the communities we serve, allowing everyone to be their authentic selves at work. We recognize that diverse teams foster innovation and yield superior results, enabling our people to thrive in genuinely inclusive environments. Join us in shaping our culture.

Application Process

We follow a two-stage interview process. Interviews may be conducted online or in person, and we are happy to accommodate any reasonable adjustments you may require.

Your candidate experience is of utmost importance to us. If you are not yet ready to apply but wish to discuss any aspect of the role or require adjustments (e.g., applying in a different format), please reach out for a confidential conversation with a recruitment partner.

Screening Requirements

Due to safety regulations within the nuclear sector, applicants will need to undergo the following additional screening:

  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
  • Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
