Production Operations Manager

The Production Operations Manager is responsible for leading the manufacturing team, ensuring all aspects of production are executed efficiently, accurately, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

Team Leadership

  • Strategically plan and allocate manufacturing resources in a complex production environment to meet both projected and actual production demands.
  • Ensure that product quality consistently meets customer expectations.
  • Develop a team of Cell Leaders through effective management practices, including career development discussions, functional training, performance management, and team engagement strategies to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Lead training and development initiatives as necessary.
Manufacturing Performance

  • Supervise the Cell Leaders to enable them to manage their areas profitably and effectively, meeting deadlines while ensuring quality and cost control.
  • Collaborate effectively with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams when issues arise.
  • Encourage the team to utilize evidence-based methods for problem-solving to ensure prompt and thorough issue resolution.
  • Establish, manage, and monitor relevant KPIs for the team, promoting annual progress towards objectives.
  • Monitor and manage pertinent KPIs.
  • Control production constraints to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
  • Organize resources and cell arrangements to meet business and production requirements.
Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to the company's quality management system, including ISO9001 standards.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit actions.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the production teams and implement best-practice manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency.
  • Initiate and oversee ongoing programs aimed at productivity enhancement, cost reduction, and output improvement.
  • Promote and support the enhancement of workplace organization (5S/LEAN) and productivity.
  • Develop operational documents and processes that align with best practices.
New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Assist in the NPI process and manage any production impacts through collaboration with Cell Leaders.
Financial Management

  • Collaborate with Finance to develop a budget for the areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the budget for the designated area.
  • Work with Engineering to prepare and manage the CAPEX budget for the area of responsibility.
Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety (OHSE)

Additionally, the role holder is accountable for OHSE and must:

  • Support the company's health and safety policies, practices, and standards;
  • Address hazards and report near misses to intervene, rectify, and report any unsafe or non-compliant situations;
  • Demonstrate responsibility towards colleagues and proactively report potential health and safety issues;
  • Encourage and support the Safety, Health, and Environment Leadership Team (SHELT) initiative to strengthen the Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHSE) culture and enhance OHSE initiatives for a safe and productive work environment.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience in team management, ideally within complex industrial environments;
  • A demonstrated history of achieving improvements in operational efficiencies through quality approaches, change management strategies, problem-solving techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • A practical understanding of relevant business KPIs to drive long-term performance improvements.
