About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at Octavius Infrastructure. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our rail electrification and plant engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive support to our Engineering Delivery Managers, contributing to the successful delivery of projects.
  • Develop and maintain Engineering Management Plans for specific programmes.
  • Ensure the utilization of competent engineering resources, both in-house and external.
  • Manage the delivery of in-house and subcontract designs, including design consultants.
  • Support project teams in risk management, commercial issues, and compliance processes.
  • Assist in the appointment of design/engineering roles as required.
  • Review and advise on design briefs, structural investigations, surveys, and monitoring.
  • Identify and manage project interfaces, hazards, and temporary conditions.
  • Provide designer liaison, including design review meetings and progressive assurance.
  • Identify stakeholder and discipline interfaces and reduce unnecessary risks.
  • Participate in value engineering meetings and evaluate added value options.
  • Provide constructability advice to permanent works and temporary works designers.
  • Assist in the development of design programmes and optimize construction activities.
  • Offer technical support to construction delivery teams and propose solutions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of temporary works.
  • Ensure effective processes for the development of assurance documentation.
  • Mentor engineers, students, and graduates to promote professional development.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across the business, particularly in design and engineering.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in the delivery of rail electrification and plant engineering projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and processes across rail electrification.
  • Specific knowledge around implementation and/or design of temporary works solutions.
  • Practical and working knowledge of the procedures associated with the delivery of infrastructure works to meet the needs of key clients such as Network Rail, TFL, or London Underground.
  • Experience of the CDM 2015 regulations and how they can be implemented successfully to ensure the safe delivery of projects with a focus on design and engineering.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Degree qualified Electrical or Mechanical, Chartered Engineer.
  • SMSTS (preferred).
  • CDM Regulations training and practiced in application.
  • Temporary works coordinator or experience in application.
  • Level 1 Audit qualifications (preferred).
  • LEAN advocate (preferred).
