This approach allows us to meet the increasing demand for services sustainably and within budgetary constraints.
The Facilities Maintenance Operative will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep of facilities and equipment, thereby guaranteeing the safety and security of properties. Responsibilities will include performing minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and gardening duties as required.
Utilizing your existing skills and experience in property maintenance, you will be expected to effectively manage various tasks associated with this role.
Core hours are between 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. You may be required to support our operations in Colchester one day per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety equipment and security systems are maintained regularly as part of business continuity.
- Contribute to general property maintenance by conducting minor repairs and ensuring property upkeep meets high standards.
- Perform routine vehicle checks and operate vehicles as necessary.
- Report issues related to systems such as fire alarms and call systems, coordinating with external contractors for prompt resolution and maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain grounds to a high standard, ensuring safety and effective management of gardens for the benefit of residents.
- Engage with key workers and residents to involve them in daily activities, aligning with individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Define specific individual and shared targets and objectives annually within the performance management framework.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent through experience, which may include practical qualifications such as apprenticeships in relevant fields.
- Demonstrated development within the role.
- Experience in Health and Safety practices, along with relevant qualifications and training.
- Evidence of First Aid training and experience.
- Horticultural experience, including the use of machinery such as strimmers and mowers, and experience working in a gardening team.
- Experience in performing building repairs, both internal and external.
- Understanding of working in a residential care environment for adults.
- Possession of a full UK driving license or the ability to meet mobility requirements through alternative means.
