About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for dissecting surgical specimens, selecting tissue samples for histopathology reports, and maintaining a high level of expertise in dissection and examination of bone and soft tissue surgical specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dissecting all surgical specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results
  • Selecting the areas of tissue to sample for histopathology reports, ensuring that all relevant information is captured
  • Maintaining a high level of expertise in dissection and examination of bone and soft tissue surgical specimens, staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies
  • Working effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality results and meet deadlines
  • Providing training and support to junior laboratory staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively
Requirements
  • A BSc degree or equivalent in biological/biomedical sciences or a related subject
  • Experience of carrying out routine laboratory tasks, following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and patients
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities
