Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team delivering the echo service with the cardiology department. As a teaching hospital, the individual will be expected to support trainee echocardiographers to achieve their BSE accreditation. The echo service operates from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and provides inpatient/outpatient weekend service.
Main Responsibilities- Perform and report echocardiograms to a high standard, meeting BSE guidelines and departmental local standards.
- Work alongside the lead cardiac physiologist to provide structured training to junior cardiac physiologists and doctors.
- Maintain own BSE accreditation by ensuring appropriate CPD is up to date.
- Provide an efficient running of the technical service by prioritising daily workloads.
- Maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of non-invasive, technical cardiac procedures.
- Remain up to date with current evidence in echocardiography.
- Ensure accurate recording of echo studies in our reporting system and outcome on the patient electronic record.
- Ensure smooth running of outpatient echo clinics.
- Jointly oversee the day-to-day running of the echo service.
- Support inpatient ward echo service.

Person Specification- BSc Clinical Physiology (or equivalent Science subject)
- BSE Level 2 TTE accreditation
- Registered/qualify for registration with RCC
- Ability to work and interact as part of a team
- Able to work calmly under pressure
- Aptitude for learning and teaching new procedures
- Decisive and organized
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Ability to process and communicate complex information
- Possess a high degree of judgmental process
- Substantial post-BSc qualification experience as a Cardiac Physiologist/echocardiographer
- Good understanding of echocardiography techniques
- Exposure to complex cases and ability to accurately assess their management
- Possession of audit process knowledge & Clinical Governance processes
